Stop or cancel a prescription

Use Discontinue for a ward-administration order that is already running, and Cancel for a prescription that should not be used.

Discontinue an active order

1. 1Open the prescription line of an active ward-administration order.
2. 2Select Discontinue and enter the reason. Future doses are stopped.

Rules

• Only a clinician or a pharmacy professional can discontinue.
• Only an active ward-administration order can be discontinued, and a reason is required.
• Cancel on the prescription needs a Cancellation Reason. Return everything dispensed first.
