Set up dental laboratory ordering

Available to

Dental directors and configuration managers.

Laboratory ordering needs the dental laboratory module and Purchase. Set up the laboratory as a vendor, give its service a price, say which procedures are lab work, and name who books the fittings.

Set up laboratory ordering

  1. Open the laboratory's contact in Purchase and tick Dental Laboratory. Under Dental → Configuration → Dental Laboratories you see the laboratories you can order from.
  2. Create the lab service as a purchasable product, for example a zirconia crown, and add the laboratory to its vendor price list with a price and a lead time.
  3. Open Dental → Configuration → Procedure Catalogue and choose a procedure such as a crown. Set Lab Work and the Lab Service Product.
  4. Open the facility and choose the Fitting Booking Contact. This person gets the task to contact the patient when a case comes back. If it is empty, the person who received the work gets it.
  5. Decide for the facility whether Confirm the lab purchase order when sending is on. If it is off, sending creates a request for quotation that purchasing confirms.
  6. Give your coordinators the Dental Laboratory Coordinator role.

What to know

  • The starter procedures for a crown, veneer, bridge, implant crown, dentures and an occlusal guard are marked as lab work automatically. A choice the director already made is never overwritten.
  • The price on the order comes from the vendor price list of the lab service product.
  • The lab only receives the work order and the files you choose to send it.
