Open and read the dental chart
Available to
Dentists, dental assistants and hygienists.Every patient has one dental chart for life. It shows the teeth as they are now, built from signed findings, and it keeps the history. The chart is a view of the patient, not a second patient record.
Open and read a chart
- Open Dental → Dental Charts and select the patient. From a patient record, you can also select Dental Chart.
- Check the Safety context at the top of the chart. It lists the consent on file and whether guardian authorisation is required.
- Choose the dentition: Primary, Mixed or Permanent. The system suggests one from the patient's age, and the dentist confirms it.
- Hover over a tooth to see what is recorded. Select a tooth to choose it, then select a surface in its small diagram.
What you see
- Teeth are stored by FDI number. Your country profile decides whether the screen shows FDI, Universal or Palmer labels.
- Colour and pattern both carry meaning: observed, existing, planned (hatched), completed, historical and your own unsigned draft (dashed). Select Legend for the key.
- A retained primary tooth in an adult stays chartable.
- Use Fit, - and + to zoom. Set As at to see the chart as it was on an earlier date.
Select Details to see every condition, existing restoration, planned and completed treatment and note in one list. The Needs attention strip lists plans waiting for the patient's decision, accepted work that is not done, unsigned drafts, overdue recalls and lab cases that are late.
Select Prescribe to open a prescription in the pharmacy workflow. Ingredients, allergy checks and dispensing stay in the pharmacy.
