Starts a governed request for laboratory, imaging, ECG, medication, procedure, referral, nursing task, or another locally configured service.
Steps
- Open the active patient encounter and create a service request.
- Select the request type, priority, requested service, reason, and required clinical context.
- Review the patient identity and encounter before activating the request.
- Use the request’s status to follow it while it is active, on hold, completed, cancelled, or discontinued.
What happens next
A laboratory or imaging request can create the corresponding departmental order. The receiving department follows its own workflow.
