Give medication on the medication round

Available to

Nurses.

The Medication Round lists the doses that are due for your patients. For each dose you scan the patient and the medicine, and record what happened. A dose can only be recorded as given when the bedside checks pass.

Give a dose

  1. Open Nursing and select Medication Round. The list opens on the Due filter, newest first. Use Overdue, Missed or Patient to narrow it.
  2. Select a dose to open it.
  3. At the bedside, scan the patient's wristband into Scanned Patient ID. The value must match the patient number or a verified identifier.
  4. Scan the medicine into Scanned Medication Barcode. If the product has no barcode, tick Product Double Checked after checking it against the order.
  5. If the patient has an active allergy, read the allergies and tick Allergies Acknowledged.
  6. If you gave a different dose, used a different route, or gave it outside the administration window, enter Dose Given, Route Used and a Deviation Reason.
  7. For a controlled medication, a second person (not you) must be entered as Witness User.
  8. Select Record Given.
