Monitor cold-chain conditions and temperature excursions
Available to
Quality or Cold-Chain Lead, Medical Storekeeper, Pharmacy Manager, Laboratory Manager, and authorised facilities user.This is a medical operations page, not a claim that stock locations alone provide temperature monitoring. Every deployment must identify its validated monitoring method: approved manual log, connected sensor platform, building-management integration, or another documented solution.
For each controlled storage area, document
- location and equipment identifier;
- approved range and source of that range, such as manufacturer instruction or local validated procedure;
- sensor or log method, calibration status, reading frequency, alarm owner, and escalation contacts;
- stock affected, duration of excursion, immediate containment, assessment owner, and release or disposal decision;
- evidence retained, including device or sensor data when integrated.
Steps during an excursion
- Protect the stock and patient safety first: follow the local alarm and containment procedure.
- Record the event in the approved temperature-excursion or quality workflow, not only as a free-text inventory note.
- Place affected stock under the defined hold or quarantine control until assessed.
- Obtain the authorised stability or quality decision and record the disposition before returning stock to usable inventory.
- Review repeated events with facilities, quality, pharmacy, laboratory, and supply-chain owners.
