Record attendance, shifts, and leave

Available to

Employee, Department Manager, HR Officer, and authorised Workforce Scheduler.

Explain the difference between a planned shift, a clocked attendance, approved leave, and an actual clinical handover. Each has a different purpose. Where Planning, Attendances, and Time Off are configured together, the workforce team should resolve conflicts before they become payroll inputs.

Steps

  1. Publish the approved work schedule or roster through the organisation’s workforce process.
  2. Record check-in and check-out through the approved attendance method; correct a missed record through manager review rather than informal editing.
  3. Submit leave under the relevant leave type and wait for the configured approval route.
  4. Review attendance exceptions, missing hours, and approved time off against the working schedule.
  5. Escalate a short-notice clinical staffing gap through the operational staffing procedure; an attendance record alone does not evidence a safe nurse-to-patient or clinician-to-patient ratio.
