Manage bed cleaning, blocking and maintenance
Available to
Nurses and ward staff; blocking and maintenance are for authorised ward staff.Use bed actions to keep the bed board truthful. Each action is a button on the bed record, opened from Wards → Bed Board (list view) or HIS Administration → Bed Board Setup.
Bed actions
| Button | Use it when | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Send for Cleaning | An empty bed needs to be cleaned. | State becomes Cleaning. |
| Mark Clean | Cleaning is finished. | The bed returns to Available; Last Cleaned At and Last Cleaned By are recorded. |
| Block | A bed must be kept out of use. Enter the Block Reason first. | State becomes Blocked. |
| Maintenance | A bed needs repair. | State becomes Maintenance. |
| Release | A blocked or maintenance bed is ready again. | The bed returns to service. |
Rules
- A bed with an active patient cannot be blocked or sent for cleaning: transfer or discharge the patient first.
- Only an empty bed can be sent for cleaning, and only a blocked or maintenance bed can be released.
- A bed cannot be marked
