Set up label printers

Available to

Configuration managers.

A printer record tells Ventrecs where to send labels for a facility.

Add a printer

  1. Open HIS Administration → Label Printers and select New.
  2. Enter the Name, Location and Facility, and choose the Document Type the printer prints (for example specimen labels or wristbands).
  3. Choose the Output Mode: Zebra network (printed directly), ZPL download (a file to send to the printer) or PDF (any printer).
  4. For a network printer, enter the Printer Host / IP and Port, the Dpi, and the Label Width and Label Height in millimetres.
  5. Save, then select Print Test Label to confirm.

Rules

  • A network printer needs a host name or IP address that resolves to a private network address.
  • A public address is refused unless an administrator allows public printer hosts.
