Establishes the financial structure used to report a healthcare provider's revenue, costs, taxes, cash, and outstanding balances without exposing clinical data unnecessarily.
Steps
- Confirm the legal entity, branch, accounting currency, fiscal localisation, tax registration, and chart of accounts approved by the organisation and its advisers.
- Configure journals and approved payment methods for patient billing, pharmacy POS, bank, cash, supplier bills, payroll, and adjustments as applicable.
- Define the approved reporting dimensions, for example facility, department, cost centre, service line, or project. Avoid using a patient identifier as a reporting dimension.
- Maintain approved products and services with the correct revenue, cost, tax, and valuation treatment. Keep clinical medicine formulation and stock control separate from the accounting rule.
- Set controlled customer terms, credit limits, fiscal positions, and escalation ownership for corporate and payer accounts.
- Test a de-identified service invoice, retail sale, supplier bill, payment, and reversal in the customer’s finance acceptance environment before go-live.
