Biomedical Equipment Maintenance

Maintain the biomedical equipment register

Available to

Biomedical Engineer or Maintenance Technician and Biomedical Maintenance Manager.

Steps

  1. Create one controlled record per maintainable item, using the organisation’s asset identifier and the manufacturer serial number where applicable.
  2. Record equipment category, manufacturer, model, supplier or service provider, acquisition or warranty details, maintenance team, responsible owner, and physical facility or room.
  3. Classify the equipment according to the organisation’s risk and maintenance policy. Keep a diagnostic device, a refrigerator, a general facility asset, and a medical spare part distinguishable.
  4. Attach or reference approved manufacturer instructions, service contract, calibration or qualification requirements, and maintenance plan only in the controlled document process approved by the customer.
  5. Review the record after transfer, replacement, decommissioning, major repair, or change in clinical use.
