Acknowledge a critical laboratory result

Available to

The recipient assigned by the laboratory workflow.

Steps

  1. Open Laboratory > Critical Results or the linked notification.
  2. Confirm the patient, result, test, and recipient before acknowledging.
  3. Review the result in its clinical context.
  4. Select Acknowledge when the result has been received and acted on according to local policy. If the local workflow requires escalation, record the escalation reason.

What happens next

The acknowledgement user and time are retained. Critical-result notifications are in-system workflow records; do not promise SMS, email, pager, or timed external escalation unless a customer-specific service has been implemented.
